Building Knowledge for Lasting Peace

Our publications document the development of our harmonising global theory of change for peace and translate emerging research into frameworks for practitioners, policymakers, and scholars.

Types of Publications

    Peer-Reviewed Articles

While others address specific conflicts or implement particular interventions, we're working to develop the underlying theory that could make all peace work more effective.

  • A line art illustration of a light bulb, a target with an arrow hitting the bullseye, and a piece of paper with text lines, representing ideas or target achievement.

    UN Human Rights Council Statements

Our sentience-based ontology aims to provide the first rigorous, measurable definition of peace that works across cultures and contexts.

    Field Research Reports

Technical documentation from our pilot programs and field initiatives. These reports provide empirical insights into how theoretical frameworks perform in practice, revealing both opportunities and challenges in real-world applications.

Foundational Article

"Reframing the Ontology of Peace Studies"
Anders Reagan, Peace and Conflict Studies, Vol. 29, No. 2 (2023)

This peer-reviewed article presents our initial theoretical framework, exploring how a sentience-based ontology could resolve longstanding conceptual problems in peace studies. The article addresses three critical gaps:

  • The lack of a rigorous definition of peace itself

  • The fragmentation between different peace approaches

  • The absence of measurable indicators for genuine peace

Core proposition: Peace is not merely the absence of violence, but the optimal social condition for the flourishing through self-determination of sentient beings.
